NH environmental plan
Environmental Strategic Plan
In 2008 we launched our own Environmental Strategic Plan to minimise environmental impacts.
Through our Environmental Plan, we have implemented numerous initiatives that have helped establish NH as the leading hotel chain in environmental care.
The targets of the 2008-2012 Environmental Strategic Plan are:
- A 20% reduction in energy consumption
- A 20% reduction in water consumption
- A 20% reduction in waste generation
- A 20% reduction in the carbon footprint
The NH Hotels environmental strategy is overseen by the Corporate Environmental and Engineering Department, which reports to the Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer. To increase the NH Hotels Board of Directors’ involvement in environmental management issues, one of the Independent Directors is in charge of guiding and tracking environmental initiatives.
The Company has also set up an Environment Committee which acts as a consulting body. The Committee is coordinated by the environmental area and comprises the marketing, sales, operations, purchasing, building, corporate responsibility and communication areas.
