Success stories

Sandra Hausding

Quality & Upsell Manager Central Europe; Central Services, Berlin - Germany

I started my career with NH in 2004, in the Sales department, as Key Accounts Manager in Munich.  The trusting atmosphere, opportunities for development and the corporate culture won me over from day one.  After nearly 5 years as Deputy Director at the NH München Dornach, I assumed responsibility for implementing our “Project One” corporate processes project in Germany.  My first position as Hotel Director was at the NH Aquarena Heidenheim, where I spent a couple of years. My work as an internal trainer, my involvement in internal projects and my participation in the “PDI” (Internal Development Programme) led to new opportunities and I was nominated to head up two hotels in Berlin, the NH Berlin Treptow and the NH Berlin Frankfurter Allee.  Further on NH encourages me to accomplish my professional goals. Now I am responsible for quality and upselling in the Business Unit Central Europe.

Manuela Calistri

Resident Manager; NH Manin, Venice - Italy

I have joined NH Hoteles as Housekeeping Manager during the Italy Integration process within the NH World.  After having been part of the first PDI Manager (Internal Development Programme) for the Business Unit Italy in 2007, I have been involved as Housekeeping & Quality Supervisor at Nhow Hotel in Milan and NH Grand Hotel Palazzo.  But the big challenge arrived soon with the renovation of the NH President as Assistant of the General Manager. During the same period I was chosen as one of the trainers of Project One Program. I’m fully convinced that NH does mean a big opportunity for everyone and especially for people who need to trust on a serious and professional company, open minded and ready to turn difficulties into big opportunities.

Tim Börgermann

Regional Sales Director; Central Services, Berlin - Germany

I joined NH as Key Account Sales Manager. In the last years I have worked in various positions within the Sales department which undoubtedly have helped me to develop my skills and abilities.  Working together hand in hand with an international sales team, the great product that we sell and the "PDI" (International Development Programme) - these are the main things that have enabled me to assume sales responsibility for a region in Germany. I always keep in mind the fact that "Wake Up to a Better World" means encouraging my team, generating entrepreneurial ideas and identifying new talents!

Annemarie van Loo

Supervisor Personnel Administration; Central Services, Hilversum - The Netherlands

I started out with a warm welcome as a student intern at NH University in 2005.  I quickly discovered our company's freshness and dynamism.  Following my internship, there was a vacancy in the Personnel Administration's Human Resources department.  I applied for the job, went through the process and was selected. A year later, I had the opportunity to apply for a job opening as Area Supervisor and I was promoted.  Today, we as a team enjoy helping employees both in the central offices and at the hotels. We focus on giving the best service possible, because “Wake Up to a Better World” means always looking forward and offering our best smile!

María Jesús Rivas

Revenue Executive; Servicios Centrales, Madrid - España

My experience with NH Hotels goes back to 2009, when I completed an internship with NH Alanda.  I joined the company in 2010 as an intern in the Revenue department. I had a new project in a department undergoing change and I felt fortunate to be a part of all that. When I completed my internship, they offered me the opportunity to stay on and currently I am the Revenue Manager for Cordoba and Granada.  This company provides support, trust and commitment to young employees and, above all, I have learned what it means to work with a group of people who inspire me every day to learn more, do more and go above and beyond.

Nicole Ammerlaan

Reservations Manager BeNeLux, France, UK & South Africa; Central Services, Hilversum – The Netherlands

My career at NH Hoteles started in 2000.  After finalizing a traineeship (Duty Management) I worked in F&B in several positions. After a while I was interested to learn more about reservations and revenue management and developed commercial experience by selling hotel rooms and banquet rooms. I enjoyed selling a lot so in 2005 I decided to increase my commercial skills by joining the National Sales Team.  After taking part of PDI 2007 (Personal Development Program of NH Hoteles) my professional career developed as Hotel Manager and only a few years later I had an extraordinary experience which was opening a brand new hotel in Amsterdam.  Currently I am responsible for reservations within the Business Unit BeNeLux, France, UK & South Africa. A perfect combination of sales, operations and reservations!.

Eduardo Sánchez

Hotel Manager; NH Centro Histórico, Mexico City - Mexico

I have now been working in this industry for 10 years, 9 of them with NH Hotels. I started as a bellhop at a couple of U.S. hotel chains. Then I had the opportunity to joint NH as the Reception Shift Leader at the NH hotel in Mexico City. I had the opportunity to work at our Hilton Garden Inn Monterrey (at that time it belonged to NH) and the NH Airport T2 Mexico hotel, as well as actively participating in the opening of the hotels in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and in Guadalajara (Mexico). Currently, I am in charge of Management at the NH Historic Center hotel. We believe in young talent and naturally this involves big challenges and commitments for people who, like me, have received continuous demonstrations of confidence by the company.

Marcela Neira

Hotel Manager; NH Latino & NH 9 de Julio, Buenos Aires - Argentina

I joined NH as the Head of Reception at the first hotel the chain opened in Buenos Aires, Argentina - the NH Latino hotel - in 1999. After that opening, I was part of the team that would open the NH Florida in the same city and I performed the same job here. Then I was promoted to Director of the NL Latino hotel and to Director of the NH Florida, combining these jobs with the operations management of some hotels of the Region. Several years later, I had the opportunity to make my first major hotel opening as Director, the NH 9 de Julio and assuming management responsibilities for it alongside responsibilities for the NH Latino, jobs which I continue developing today. I have had the opportunity to grow along with the company in South America and what is important is not how many years I have worked for the company, but the fact that I have worked in different positions, situations and challenges that make you feel the same sensations that you felt on the first day you came to work at NH.

Josefa Gil

Revenue Coordinator NH Resorts; Sotogrande (Cádiz - Spain)

At the age of 18, I started working at the NH Almenara as an Assistant Receptionist after a seven-month internship at the same hotel. In 2004, after I had already become Receptionist, I moved to the new Hotel NH Sotogrande when it opened and after a few years in Reception I was promoted to Deputy Head of Reception and appointed the hotel's Manager of Internal Communication.  Two years later, I became Head of Reception. In January 2010, I became a member of the Hesperia - NH Hotels integration team and upon my return from that marvellous experience, I was promoted to the Revenue Management department for the new European Resorts business unit. All of my experiences with the company have been and continue to be very positive.  NH Hotels stands out 'in terms of people'; it cultivates and values effort, compensates professional performance and helps you to grow as a person.

Antonio Tosiani

Purchasing Director; Central Services, Milan - Italy

I’ve been working in the hospitality industry for 8 years, always with NH Hoteles. I started as storekeeper in NH Trieste, and then I had different responsibilities in the same hotel from Administrative Responsible to GM Assistant. In 2009 I had the opportunity to work with the Regional Operations Manager for the region -Center Italy as Assistant and as Administration/HR Coordinator for the same region. In 2011 another challenge was waiting for me as Project Leader for Click&Buy, our PtP system. Currently I’m the Purchasing Director for Italy. In our company “Wake Up to a Better World” has become “Wake Up to a Better Work” for the employees, I think my professional career is an example of it. How many companies give the opportunity to their employees to grow and develop so much in so little time?
