NH Hoteles paints the Net green

• The Company has launched an original and dynamic eco webpage conceived as an forum for accessing detailed information on the Company’s environmental performance

• The new webpage is particularly user-friendly and presents a exclusive interactive hotel map which outlines, floor by floor, the eco-friendly measures implemented by NH Hoteles across its establishments

Madrid, 14th February, 2012. NH Hoteles has unveiled a new eco webpage http://medioambiente.nh-hoteles.es/en/start as a microsite within the Group’s corporate website. The new page stands out for its originality and dynamism while offering a comprehensive overview of each of the environmental initiatives implemented by NH Hoteles at its establishments around the world. These initiatives, which fall under the umbrella of the Group’s 2008/2012 Strategic Environmental Plan, are intended to reduce water consumption, manage waste sustainably, lower carbon emissions, commit to renewable energy sources, reduce power consumption and protect biodiversity. To complement the information provided on all these issues, the new webpage includes a counter to graphically illustrate the Group’s achievements in terms of water and energy savings and reduction of waste generation and carbon emissions.

From the underground car park to the flat roof
One of the site’s most attractive features is the section called The Hotel, a tab containing an interactive map which allows browsers to move from floor to floor and room to room throughout one of the chain’s establishments, from the underground car park to the flat roof, entering the reception area, rooms, terraces and even the conference rooms along the way. Each stop on the route highlights the innovative environmental initiatives set in motion by NH Hoteles to make its facilities eco-friendly.

To facilitate access to all this content, NH Hoteles’ new eco webpage has been developed to ensure compatibility with all mobile devices. Moreover, the contents lend themselves to social network sharing.

Targets surpassed
NH Hoteles is one of the sustainability reference companies in the tourist industry. Since embarking on its 2008-2012 Environmental Program, the Company has undertaken a series of innovative initiatives which have enabled it to attain water savings and the reduce in carbon emissions and waste production targets set in the plan one year ahead of schedule.

The most recent public data available (dating to the end of 3Q11) shows an accumulated water savings of 28.20% and a 31.03% reduction in carbon emissions. The reduction in waste generation, which is measured annually, was tracking at 26.83% at year-end 2010. In terms of energy savings, the Company has already managed to reduce its energy consumption by 15.83% and continues to work on new initiatives designed to boost these savings further.
